Verdict

An endgame built for the long haul: energy and reagents set the pace, and Gauntlet: Onslaught is the must-do weekly activity.

Destiny: Rising launched in late August 2025 as an online, cross-platform looter shooter. Finishing the campaign is only the start: the endgame is built for weeks of play and runs on one basic rule — energy. This guide covers how each system works and where your time is best spent.

Energy: the resource that controls everything

Most activities cost 20 energy for the full reward.

  • 120 points regenerate per day, with a storage cap of 360.
  • Two one-time paid packs add 440 points.
  • Each week you can buy 120 extra points with silver or leaves.

Add gear and progression caps on top and advancement is slow by design. Planning how you spend energy is the difference between progressing and stalling.

Team level and seasonal passives

First, raise your team level to the cap of 80, mainly through activities that give around 2,000 XP each. After that, XP only fills the seasonal passive bar, which grants one point per completion.

Season one has 16 passives, 12 of them upgradable: health and shield boosts, damage resistance, elemental and ability damage, weapon-archetype bonuses and two conditional passives for support and solar builds. None are essential, so spread points to suit your style.

Acclaim levels

These unlock automatically after the story and progress far more slowly. XP comes from just two sources: completing weapon collections (one of every common and exotic weapon) and character challenges.

Challenges require owning the character and range from timed story missions to power targets and ability-specific trials. The bronze, silver and gold medals earned there gate higher levels, though banked XP is kept. Level 25 opens every core system: better rewards, higher upgrade caps and harder activities.

Character and weapon development

Upgrade reagents come from repeating daily and weekly activities:

  • Shifting Gates (PvEvP): the most efficient source; energy buys a special currency with a weekly shop limit.
  • Legacy: simple and repeatable, gives ability and passive reagents.
  • Singularity: Chaos: a solo roguelike with scarce, random elemental fruits; the weekly Gambit shop is the best alternative.
  • Morgran's Prey: points exchanged for three reward types.
  • Strike and Gauntlet: Blitz: identical reagents, but Blitz adds a 3% exotic drop chance.
  • Legendary Campaign: four reward routes with one-off and weekly timed challenges.

Getting gear

Each character carries two weapons, four artifacts and three mods per weapon, and randomness affects almost everything: perk grades, artifact bonuses and gold mod upgrades.

  • Energy-based activities guarantee a random weapon; without energy the chance drops to 34%.
  • Singularity: Chaos is the only artifact source. With energy, each chest guarantees an orange artifact with an 8.9% gold chance; without, it's 68% orange and 3.3% gold, with an endless mode available.

Combat zones and Front Lines

There are two zones with 20 ranks each and gacha rewards. Reaching max rank takes days. Valuable contracts (four per day) give leaves, XP and coins; regular ones give shards and coins. Weekly milestones at 5, 10, 15 and 20 contracts award exotic shards and Front Lines keys, whose chests have only a 14% gold mod chance.

Calamity Ops and The Expanse

Both refresh every two weeks with new modifiers and rewards. Calamity Ops allows 12 attempts per cycle, has 11 ranks and a score multiplier that decays over time. The Expanse has 30 stages in three groups; the later ones are harder and split into two versions with their own presets.

Gauntlet: Onslaught

A three-stage raid with exotic gear: five shared items and one unique item per stage. Weekly enhanced rewards have better odds for exotics and gold cards. It's easily the activity most worth repeating every week.

Master and Grandmaster

Tougher versions of Strike and Blitz with stronger enemies, cycle modifiers and a daily limit. Weekly keys open chests with reagents and mod picks, and extra keys can be bought. There's also a seasonal cap that raises one item from level 80 to 85 and resets each season.

Guild and casual activities

Your guild pays out black-market currency, dust, shards, reagents, accelerators and 50 leaves each week. To unwind there's 6v6 PvP, racing, a Gwent-style card game and fishing, whose currency buys purple reagents. Achievements give leaves and titles through 16 seals, nine of which can be gilded.

Verdict

Destiny: Rising's endgame is a marathon. Elemental fruits and cluster reagents are the main bottlenecks, and Front Lines and Acclaim can feel frustratingly slow. Our advice: put your energy into Shifting Gates and Singularity, and never skip Gauntlet: Onslaught.
